Here was Trump’s chance to prove that he’s not a racist or white supremacist. That his comments on “fine people on both sides” were just due to his limited vocabulary. But no. He absolutely could NOT bring himself to outright say, without hesitation, that he is against white supremacy. Even if he just lied like he always does and just assented for the sake of the camera. He could not because he knows who his fanbase is. His head would sooner spin like in The Exorcist than for him to say that Black Lives Matter.
